We are coming out of our Oscar-themed weeks with an Oscar winner who picked up his trophy not for directing, writing or producing, but for Best Visual Effects. In addition, yesterday was the anniversary of his death in 1999.

Kubrick is a god for me, my favorite director, all of his movies are amazing (except spartacus, which is great, but not amazing)

My Fav. five are:

1. A Clockwork Orange (I never get tired of this movie)

2. 2001 A Space Oddysey (The definition of the intelectual sci fi)

3. Full Metal Jacket (Act I, amazing, Act 2, really great, but not amazing)

4. Barry Lyndon (Not his most popular film, it’s not even on blu ray, but I truly loved it)

5. Dr. StrangeLove (One of the best political satires ever)

1. Dr. Strangelove …
2. A Clockwork Orange
3. Paths of Glory
4. Full Metal Jacket
5. The Killing
2001 has great moments, but I have trouble with it as a whole. The Shining is very very close to beating out The Killing.
