There are always songs that we lament weren’t nominated either because of some archaic or convoluted rationale or because voters just didn’t get the song. What are your favorite Original Songs that weren’t nominated for Oscars?

First, thanks to “Inside Oscar” for including an “Eligible Songs That Failed to be Nominated” list for many years. Second, I had twenty titles by the time I reached 1950, and a quarter of that from then on. Finally, Damin already picked a few that I would have (“I Remember April” is such a great song)

3. “Our Love is Here to Stay” (George and Ira Gershwin) from Goldyn Follies

      Yes, but it wasn’t composed for the film. Ewan McColl’s song was recorded by Flack for her first album in 1969, although it didn’t become popular until after it was heard in the 1971 film.
