When I said earlier that Foreign Language Film would be the last shortlist, I had forgotten all about the Makeup department. Here are their shortlisted films. It’s most interesting that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 made the list considering how few effects were in it. The Theory of Everything also seems a bit odd to me.

7 FEATURES ADVANCE IN RACE FOR MAKEUP AND HAIRSTYLING OSCARยฎ

LOS ANGELES, CA โ€“ The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that seven films remain in competition in the Makeup and Hairstyling category for the 87th Academy Awardsยฎ.

The films are listed below in alphabetical order:

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2”
“Foxcatcher”
“The Grand Budapest Hotel”
“Guardians of the Galaxy”
“Maleficent”
“Noah”
“The Theory of Everything”

On Saturday, January 10, 2015, all members of the Academy’s Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch will be invited to view 10-minute excerpts from each of the seven shortlisted films. Following the screenings, members will vote to nominate three films for final Oscar consideration.

The 87th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academyโ€™s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

The Oscarsยฎ will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at the Dolby Theatreยฎ at Hollywood & Highland Centerยฎ in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
