The Academy has announced that 92 countries have submitted films for consideration for the Best Foreign Language FIlm category. This is up 7 from last year’s 85. This is yet another new record for submissions. I’ll organize them all into a formal list for the 90th Oscars page, but for now, here’s the press release.

LOS ANGELES, CA โ€“ A record 92 countries have submitted films for consideration in the Foreign Language Film category for the 90th Academy Awardsยฎ. Haiti, Honduras, Lao Peopleโ€™s Democratic Republic, Mozambique, Senegal and Syria are first-time entrants.

Nominations for the 90th Academy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.

The 90th Oscarsยฎ will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Dolby Theatreยฎ at Hollywood & Highland Centerยฎ in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. The Oscars also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
