Review:

I'm loathe to admit that while I find the concept intriguing, the execution and ill-fitted humor leave me a bit cold. Certainly an art film in concept and delivery, Ten Canoes is either going to be quite funny or laughably stupid. Either way, this film might be fun just to experience even if some of it is cringe-inducing.

Oscar Prospects:

The film was submitted for consideration for last year's Oscars by home country Australia. There aren't any elements featured in the preview that would suggest a 2007 release would generate other Oscar nominations since it's ineligible in the Foreign Language Film category.
