The year's third rose-driven poster, this one has more contrast than Youth Without Youth and excels slightly over I Know Who Killed Me, but still lacks any substantive necessity. The use of the flower without explanation seems a bit weak.
Nothing in this trailer makes the film seem any more powerful, insightful or intriguing than any other period drama that's come out. With a premise that involves a long-term, semi-one-sided relationship only excels with Javier Bardem is on the screen who could make an otherwise bland-looking film interesting.
Depending on the critical support, audience support and general appeal of the film, it could be a contender or another stumbled production on the journey towards Oscar glory. Even the costumes and art direction seem underimpressive.
I have not seen this film.
