Not the most evocative poster made this year, but certainly one that's better than average. The male leads posted on the poster should drawn in an unsuspecting female demographic, but the French title (thankfully, it warns the audience in advance) may turn away a number of others.
Dans Paris looks somewhat like Leaving Las Vegas in its depression-meets-love theme, but adding a non-depressed character gives it the possibility of taking the story in another direction. However, the preview does make the film look like it's trying to be a movie about existential crises, which should give one pause.
If this film is submitted by France, it almost certainly will fail to earn a nomination. It's too dark and "artsy" to appeal to the Academy's more antiquated foreign film committee.
I have not seen this film.
