Preview: Introducing the Dwights (2007)

Review:

A train wreck of colors splashed unnecessarily across the poster's face. Featuring far too many close ups of Brenda Blethyn and too few of the other stars, it's clear this is a Blethyn vehicle. So why then is it called Introducing the Dwights?

Review:

The trailer is quite amusing and I'm looking more towards this film than I am the moribund The Savages due later this year. Sadly, the latter will be pushed, not this film. Blethyn has long been a critics darling and although she's gotten her fair share of poor notices, this is the type of film that will showcase her talents.

Oscar Prospects:

Early release date means early death knell for Blethyn and the film itself. Oscar has a short attention span and unless the film's a blockbuster or gets lots of publicity, it tends to get forgetten especially with the limited-run feel of this pic.
