The poster is simple, yet telling. With the trailer as backing, this emphasizes the themes of the film without relying on more recent poster styles.
Unfortunately, the preview can't back up the style of the poster. Although I've liked or loved Marc Forster's films in the past, this preview makes the film look like another Paul Haggis schmaltz-fest. It reeks of forced sentimentality, but I have to give it some praise for daring to tackle a tale of non-Americans and not drag in the wrong actors for the parts.
Depending how the film actually turns out, Forster could be a contender. This is the kind of political film the Academy can get behind without feeling they're playing partisan politics. Because it deals with the effects of war on those in other countries, it may earn quite a few votes..
I have not seen this film.
