Trying to capture a spirit of the 1980s, the poster's designers got a significant amount wrong. The poster seems more attuned to the 1970s than it does to the video game era and video gamers aren't likely to pay enough attention to the poster to be drawn to the documentary.
Like the poster, it's hard for a trailer to be much less engaging for a documentary. Although there are some aspects that seem interesting (I am a gamer after all), there isn't enough to hold my interest and I'm not as opposed to documentaries as most of my friends and outcasts are.
I don't see this one making much of a dent at the Oscar Documentary Feature competition. It's too niche-stylized to earn that kind of recognition.
I have not seen this film.
