The preview says it's inspired by a true story, but Albert Brooks' Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World shouldn't be that inspiration. While I'm certain it's not, there is some manner of similarity in themes as Brooks film was about a Jewish comic in the Middle East trying to find out what makes those who believe in Islam laugh. This film looks like it's trying to take the age-old story of religiously-different couples and combining them to a similar level. I don't think they've tackled many Muslim parts of these opposites attract stories and I think Atheists and Agnostics are still awaiting turns.
This film being nominated at the Oscars is as likely as Palestine getting global recognition as a legitimate country.
I have not seen this film.
