Classic, stylized but uneventful. It's decent to look at, but hardly magnificent. The poster is simple and avoids shouting about the stars that are narrating.
Taking, lesser known actors and giving voice to those who tell the story of the invasion and destruction of the Chinese city of Nanking, this documentary has some interesting story elements that may engage those who are less likely to watch it.
I could see this being an Oscar contender if it can get nominated. It has a wartime oppression theme and should appeal to the older demographic of the Academy. If it's nominated, we could see a surprise, non-political victor in this one.
I have not seen this film.
