Review:

The trend of the indie scene is to have your poster drawn, not designed. Some might say it's the same thing, but all it looks like is a serious lack of imaginaition. This poster is no exception to that and is not terribly interesting to look at either.

Review:

Looking like every other trailer on the market, despite its pedigree, The Savages doesn't seem like it will be much more interesting stylistically than Little Miss Sunshine and although Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney star, their performances in the preview are too much of the same thing from them.

Oscar Prospects:

Late-year release could signal a push for this film at the Oscars, but I'm not sure it will deliver. The Squid and the Whale didn't do terribly well and it had a significantly more interesting premise than this film. Linney could be nommed for this film, but she has other performance that might get critical attention.

Full Review Synopsis:

The film is a bit too reliant on long-winded, sometimes unrealistic dialogue while occasionally being rooted in touching moments.
