Actions shots for a sports film? What are the odds? While it's stylistically indistinguishable from many others, the colors are crisp and the layout is visually appealing.

Review:

Sports films have always trickled out to theaters to give men something besides violent action films to turn to. However, in recent years, the number of such films has increased dramatically. The Rocket is yet another in the long string and it looks every bit like Rocky with a hockey theme.

Oscar Prospects:

If there's a genre other than horror that does worse at the Oscars than Science Fiction or Fantasy, it's a sports drama. There have been many, but very few have broken through and most of those were far better made than The Rocket appears to be.
