I don't quite understand the choice here other than to highlight the film's star. And while it's stylish in certain regards, it isn't very fitting.
This looks like an exceptional film. Malkovich looks like he's giving the performance of his career and Angelina Jolie looks better than she has in ages, giving a much more controlled performance than A Mighty Heart.
Having read about Clint Eastwood's other 2008 Oscar entry, this one certainly looks like it's going to be a winner. I wouldn't be surprised to see it pick up nods for Picture, Director, Actress, Supporting Actor, Original Screenplay, Editing, Cinematography, Art Direction and Costume Design.
Anchored by a fearless performance by Angelina Jolie, this film is an intriguing mystery about a woman plagued by her son's disappearance and the mysterious boy who comes forward to replace him.
