The strangeness and flair of the poster is definitely notable, but that overbearing black-white-and-red motif still annoys.

Review:

I've never been interested in the work of Hunter S. Thompson. He's an interesting character and with the Oscar-winning Alex Gibney on board, I'm sure it will be interesting. It looks like a great dissection of parallels between Vietnam and the present war, which will chagrin Iraq War proponents, but that could be a positive for the intended audience.

Oscar Prospects:

You can't deny Gibney's Oscar relevane. With an Oscar nomination for Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room and the Oscar victory for Taxi to the Dark Side, it's very likely he will be Oscar nominated this year. A win, however, doesn't seem as promising.
