I've noticed a hand-drawn art work motif to nearly every Bollywood movie I've yet seen. It's not very attractive to me personally and the image contained within is hardly indicative of the film's subject.
This somewhat fascinating trailer shows a side of Indian culture that seem to be often ignored by the country itself, which seems to prefer less controversial depictions of its people and culture. However, spousal abuse at the center of this film's story suggests a deeper, more mature expression to the rest of the world.
Deepa Mehta's film was not the film selected by India to compete at the Oscars, so it has none.
I have not seen this film.
