Review:

The poster looks strikingly like the one used for Funny Games which featured Naomi Watts "crying" in supposed terror. Here, it's just a morose little Dakota Fanning face and I must admit it's fairly evocative.

Review:

Although the film has been ravaged by critics and there are quite a few elements that seem identical to films like Fried Green Tomatoes, there is something engaging about the film and especially Fanning who looks to have matured as an actress.

Oscar Prospects:

Too bad that maturation had to come in the middle of a strong year for lead actresses. In a weaker year and with strong critical support, Fanning could have scored an Oscar nod. I don't think it will happen this year, though.
