The close-up is a bit too extreme and it seems decidedly tame for a film about a marriage of convenience and a mistress with the power to hold the lead enraptured. It also doesn't show enough of the clothing style to really give the impression that this is a true period piece.
Detrimental is the best word I can use to describe the film. It looks like every other love-and-betrayal costume drama ever made and while it credits Asia Argento as a major asset, most American audiences won't even know who she is, which won't bring a lot of folks to the theater.
A Foreign Language Film country submission may be in order, but I doubt it would make it past that.
I have not seen this film.
