Big, blocky lettering, minimal face time with the stars, the title is far too oppressive to be attractive and the scene selected does very little to accentuate the film's positive qualities.
This looks like another attempt to mimic the good cop/bad cop genre, which we have The Departed to thank for re-energizing. It certailny doesn't look any more interesting than We Own the Night, yet this one at least has Colin Ferrell, who's nothing if not interesting. However, Ed Norton does look a bit self-indulgent in the trailer.
Expanding the trailer out to full-length does not improve my feelings on the project. While it at least looks a tad more interesting and more rife for twists, it still remains a conventional pot boiler with Oscar aspirations considering the recent return to the late-2008 slate.
It looks like your typical cop pot boiler. Since We Own the Night isn't exactly catching fire with critics or audiences, I doubt this film will be able to earn Oscar nods releasing so early in the year.
I have not seen this film.
