Preview: The Promotion (2008)

Review:

The first thing that struck me about this poster, using the film's two stars facing off seemingly holding the title in their hands is that Seann William Scott's hand doesn't appear to be grasping the title whereas John C. Reilly's does. I'm sure the concept of the poster was an afterthought, but one small error ruins it in my mind.

• Trailer: C-

Review:

What a thoroughly unfunny trailer. Obviously trying to capitalize on John C. Reilly's mysterious cachet (he was great in Chicago but where did his comedy career come from?), there is nothing original displayed from the film, there are no outrageous moments that incite laughter and all of that contributes to a film that isn't likely to light the box office on fire.

Oscar Prospects:

This film would need to get its producer promoted to CEO of a company before Oscar would take note and even then it would be sketchy.
