Preview: Punisher: War Zone (2008)

Review:

It's the symbol that many of us recognize as one of the biggest duds in comic book adaptation history. But, as a symbol for the character, it's fitting. It's just not terribly exciting.

This is a far better poster than the first. It's a lot more succinct and gives the Punisher skull a purpose. Not overbearing and not overexaggerating, the poster simply captures a feeling.

Review:

I can't imagine why this film needed a sequel. It was a colossal box office dud and if this trailer is any evidence, the sequel will be as well. By using the subtitle War Zone, the producers are hoping to draw action aficionados to the movie theater. Hopefully they check out the trailer first and see there's nothing exciting about it.

This second trailer is a little less choppy and a little more adventuresome, but the film still looks like little more than a wet dream for young action junkies without a decent narrative.
