If you don't know anything about the film, looking at this poster you might feel it's strongly reminiscent of The Hunt for Red October. And with a title like Red, you might expect it to be about Communism. It is in this regard the poster fails. However, the trailer shines a new light on the poster design and makes it at least a little stronger and more exemplary.
While I'm not sure there are too many original elements in the film, the preview at least makes this film about an old man's conflict with a rich man and his son look like an admirable and challenging effort.
August is not the best month to release films with strong Oscar prospects, but Brian Cox looks exceptional, so he could be on early radars for Best Actor, but I doubt he'll make it all the way to the Oscar nominations in January.
I have not seen this film.
