Much better than last year's slate of snow-themed films. This seems to have more depth and color, despite being largely cold and unforgiving. I think the figures of people are a bit too cartoonish, but it works otherwise.
It's good to see Woody Harrelson picking up some more varied work. He seems to be back in the limelight after his all-too-brief appearnce in the Coen Brothers' No Country for Old Men. Unfortunately, this newest film is about as appealing as a more laid-back Hostel. I can't decide from the trailer if this is more of a drama, a thriller or a horror film. That confusion may also befuddle potential audiences.
This isn't going to be a Harrelson-nomination vehicle. It's just not the kind of film the Academy looks at seriously. I would have expected a nomination for Ashley Judd in Bug long before I would picture any nominations for this film.
I have not seen this film.
