While I would normally reward inventive use of film-centered images being used in poster design, the poster itself is hardly original. The concept has been done before and the "tacked on" feel of the six character portraits at the bottom don't fit appropriately with the lack of stardom for 99% of the cast.
The content is noteworthy in how it deals with an often-ignored segment of the high school movies where teens deal with everything from drugs to sex as they grow up. Intolerance has periodically been examined in television series, but never when it involves gay and bisexual youths. And from the looks of it, they are doing a good job conveying that adolescent turmoil.
As with many niche features, the Academy won't take notice unless there's a huge clamoring of support from the critical community, which isn't likely to occur here.
I have not seen this film.
