While it's a bit cheesy when you look at it, the floor plan streaked with swastika red is a clever touch and the color scheme, which has largely been ignored this year (thankfully), really fits the theme.
It certainly looks interesting, but there's no hint of Tom Cruise doing a German accent. And that may be the reason the film has been pushed back to early 2009. The premise and subject of the film is intriguing and the cinematography looks spectacular. We'll just have to wait and see if Bryan Singer can actually handle such an effort.
Now that we finally get a look a real trailer (the first one does not seem to be present on the site anymore), we can see that it does strive to be more thriller than war film, but that doesn't necessarily mean a good thing. The last such attempt at that type of film, though admittedly more akin to Casablanca, The Good German was not a hit with critics, which could be the end result for this film.
While the February berth probably means the film has no shot at an Oscar nomination, it could perform well enough with critics and at the box office to carry over to the 82nd Oscars, but we'll have to wait and see.
An enjoyable thriller about a failed plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler and the men who struggled to carry it out.
