The simple symbolism is attractive. While the colors may be washed out and the landscape sparse, it is clear the message of this poster. Reviewing the trailer helps make the poster seem more effective, so as an individual unit, it might not be as evocative.
I'm not sure I would want to watch this documentary, but it seems like a noble effort and a surprising one considering China's crack down on negative media depictions of the country. However, the length of time passed between the damming of the Yangtze and this documentary's release may have muted some of the negative response.
I could see this doc being quite emotionally-charged, which only serves to make it a likely contender for an Oscar nomination. If it should get the nomination, it could do well.
I have not seen this film.
