Preview: You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008)

  • Poster: D+

Review:

There's nothing exciting or original about the poster and why the title is emblazoned so many times in the background is a mystery to me. It's not sufficiently explained and "Zohan" popping out of it is even more confusing.

  • Trailer: D+; D

Review:

If Adam Sandler isn't busy offending most of the gay community (I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry), he's taking on the Jewish community. This offensive concept is sure to have many Jews up in arms over the depiction of their people. On top of everything, there's only a couple of funny moments in the trailer and the rest are part-and-parcel for a Sandler film.

The second trailer is just as obnoxious as the first, but perhaps a little more so. There is still nothing compelling or worthwhile in this trailer to suggest it's going to be anything more than a money maker and hopefully even that won't be the case.

Oscar Prospects:

There's no Oscar in Sandler's future after this. He's the kind of actor who'll never make it far, nor will his films.
