A dramatization of a school shooting that forces the students to seek comfort with each other in their times of trouble.
Since the movie is so unabashedly sorrowful (just watch the trailer to confirm that), it's not surprising that they would be so forceful in their depiction of crossed gravestones. I don't know if it will work, but when creating a dichotomy between that image and the two, potentially, lovers at the top of the page, it seems at odds with itself.
There's not a hint of romance in this rather moribund trailer. The fact that it takes itself so seriously without trying to push itself on audiences looking for entertainment makes it all the more interesting, though who knows how well a film releasing in April can do.
This feels more like a Stop-Loss style film than a Lions for Lambs-style film. While neither were Oscar contenders, one was clearly designed for a younger demographic that wasn't terribly concerned with Oscar recognition. The latter almost certainly was.
I have not seen this film.
