A couple must travel across the country when one set of their parents decide to abandon them and travel to Europe. Along the way, they meet an interesting array of people all willing to lend aid and advice while they are trying to decide when, where and how they are going to settle down before their child is born.
The poster is far too busy, yet it's interesting enough to be eye-catching without being too garish. John Krasinski is barely recognizable, so it's not likely the film will benefit from his presence if this poster has anything to do with it, but he's hardly a box office draw at this time, so it may not be such a bad thing.
Good comedies are often hard to come by and while there are certain "I wanna be an indie" elements to the production, the A-list director Sam Mendes gives it a bit more stability as a Focus Features production. There are some extremely funny moments and the top-notch cast make this look to be one of the more interesting prospects for the Summer.
Releasing in June may be a bad idea if Focus wants to push the film for Oscar consideration, but they may be trying to capitalize on the abbreviated awards season by getting the movie seen and debated far enough in advance of the Oscars that they can possibly push it more effectively. We'll see if that's their gambit and if the gambit will work.
I have not seen this film.
