Preview: Bart Got a Room (2009)

Synopsis:

A geeky high schooler hopes to make the most of his Prom, but can't seem to find a date even though the biggest "loser" at school, Bart, had already gotten a room.

Review:

Caught with his pants down, this poster, while trying to convey a sense of irony and humor, manages to fail on both counts. While it's at least a valiant attempt, the comedic gold has been mined out of this style and doesn't leave room for many others to fit in.

Review:

Judd Apatow's success as a nerd-fantasy exploration expert has encouraged a lot of other filmmakers to follow that road. Much like John Hughes' films of the 1980s, these movies seem to touch on an inner geek in the filmmakers who grew up during that same period and gives them an outlet even if the byproduct isnt' that good (and this doesn't appear to be...with William H. Macy the most embarrassing element).

Oscar Prospects:

Zero.
