A passionate woman discovers more about herself and her past when a Mexican stranger arrives in her life.
Simple and elegant, breaking down the typical black-and-white contrast poster, this one seems to evoke a classical style that would never have been made in a yesteryear, but seems to fit perfectly there. Unfortunately, that concept doesn't have much to do with the film, so its purpose other than looking good is unclear.
It looks more interesting than Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's previous two films and could be more successful with the Oscars. The performances look on par with other outings. However, Guillermo Arriaga is directing, not Inarritu, so it's an unknown quantity in this equation.
His screenplays have earned recognition at the hands of another director. So, it's possible he might not get recognized, but it's also possible that the talent is in the screenplay and could result in nominations in spite of not having Inarritu in the hunt.
I have not seen this film.
