Based on the children's novel, this 3-D adaptation explores a mad scientist's desire to convert water into food.
Rudimentary, slightly appropriate, but altogether unflattering and boring.
Seeing this trailer in 3-D certainly adds some depth, both literally and figuratively, but seeing it in 2-D isn't terribly disengaging either. Neither are terribly exciting.
With so many 3-D animated features in the offing this year and many of them from major studios (2 from Disney, 1 from DreamWorks and 1 from Fox alone), I can't fathom this film earning an Oscar nod.
An improvement on the previous outing as we get a better understanding of the film's plot. And although guessing the film's conclusion is entirely simple based on the trailer, it's not the conclusion that most people going to this film will care about, it's the graphics and the situations that pervade it, which are interesting at least.
I have not seen this film.
