As Charles Darwin works on his scientific research, he must face his wife's deep-seated religious upbringing and how his studies could potentially destroy his relationship.
A bit oversimplified, and ill-representative of the movie, but it's at least an attempt to show where the creators are going with their concept.
The concept is a bit shaky and the execution inexpressive. Jennifer Connelly feels out of place alongside Paul Bettany. The trailer is a bit slow, suggesting the film may not be much more than that.
Once upon a time, it might have been considered, but it had a stealth release and very little press suggesting if critics wouldn't warm up to it, the Academy wouldn't either.
I have not seen this film.
