Preview: Crossing Over (2009)

Synopsis:

A film about a border patrol agent and several illegal immigrants looking to carve out lives for themselves while avoiding deportation.

Review:

I like it from a concept standpoint, though it's not a terribly plot-effective rendition. I like the coloration of highways to match the colors of the flag, but I don't quite understand what exactly traffic has to do with border crossings other than as a sort of random verbal simile.

Review:

Looking like a cross between Traffic and Babel, the film explores well in the trailer the goals and desires of illegal immigrants and the sometimes calous response given to them when evicting them from the United States. It seems to be an indictment on current immigration laws, which makes for some tense situations.

Oscar Prospects:

This could be Harrison Ford's only chance at an Oscar nomination for awhile. It looks a far more dramatic role that he's been taking lately, which could help. A lot depends on the release date.
