Based on the true-life story of infamous Italian politician Giulio Andreotti whose mafia tie led him to great power as prime minister of Italy.
The best thing about the poster is that it's incredibly simple but brilliantly executed. While you have to see the trailer to understand the concept, once you have it makes terrific sense and is quite enjoyable.
Without yielding too much dialogue, yet presenting perhaps too many images, the film looks quite fascinating and blends the many elements of crime drama and political saga with a man who bears a chilling resemblance to F. W. Murnau's Nosferatu.
As it was supposedly in contention to be the Italian submission to the Oscars last year, it will probably not be eligible this year. However, if critical reception is strong, we could see a surge of attention in Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globes and perhaps some acting accolades for Toni Servillo, but Oscar might just be too far out of the film's grasp.
A fascinating history of recent Italian politics.
