The classic story retold of a young, attractive man mingling with the sexual forces of London while holding onto a deep secret that preserves his looks forever.
I like the aged-paint-like cracking on the side of Ben Barnes' face. Unfortunately, the rest of his face feels entirely inexpressive and the fact that it dominates the frame doesn't help.
The story itself has been done perfectly before, so the reason to remake it now is a bit unusual, but the cinematography looks good and the performances don't look awful, so it could be a surprisingly adequate remake.
Art Direction, Costume Design and Cinematography are requisite considerations for this kind of film, but I doubt it will be remembered amongst the other costume dramas coming or having come out already this year.
I have not seen this film.
