POSTERS

Preview: End of the Line (2009)

Synopsis:

Another in the long line of Warning documentaries, this is about the mass fishing industry and its de-fishing of the oceans and the impact this has on smaller communities and the environment.

  • Poster: C-

Review:

The black-and-white starkness of the poster is eye-catching, but that's about as far as it goes, failing to really tell the audience what they should expect going into the film.

  • Trailer: C

Review:

Maybe producers are hoping to capture an audience from those who watch Deadliest Catch, but this seems to be like a cookie cutter of similarly-themed documentaries about the dangers of human civilization encroaching upon the natural world. The concept begins to lose some of its strength when the trailer does very little to tell us why the picture was made.

Oscar Prospects:

There are other documentaries similar to this out there this year and this one doesn't seem like it will be much in the way of competition.
