A documentary about the history of the classic stage musical A Chorus Line paralleled with the casting of the Broadway revival.
While not the simple, stylized classicism of the original A Chorus Line design, it does have a certain panache and style of its own. It still isn't spectacular and there are a few things that could have been done to make it more interesting, but it's a solid effort nonetheless.
There are some potentially fascinating elements in the trailer, but there are also some reality-show-style dramatics that feel a bit distracting. While the creative process is always interesting the best parts of the trailer are discussions about the original show and its origins.
This could have a shot at a nomination. I'm not sure it won't suffer the fate of any number of other Broadway-themed docus in the recent past, but it could very well appeal to showbiz personalities, which might help...if the adjudicators of the final five nominations weren't documentarians and not really showbiz folk.
