Review:

Sure, it says a lot about a film without having to, literally, say anything, but really, this doesn't even look like a poster, more like a placeholder, which gives hope they'll do something more interesting with a real poster. If this is it, it's a bit disappointing.

We all had ideas what the voices in the woods were saying in the Friday the 13th films. Who knows if they even were words, but the ones I mos often associated with it were "get out". That's what I want to scream at this poster so it will leave me alone.

  • Trailer: C-; D+

Review:

My concern over this remake is that everyone already knows what happens. The question is: Is this a remake of the original film? In which case why do they use the original film's vocal recording of Mrs. Vorhees telling about how they let her son drown? If it isn't the case, wouldn't this just be a sequel and not a remake as it's being purported. Either way, remake or continuance, what's presented does very little for the imagination and invokes the idea that this will be more of a slasher film than a psychological slasher thriller as the original.

Looking like nothing more than the perpetuated young adult slasher flicks of recent years, many of the great symbolic choices of those great old slasher pics are largely vacated in order to bring more screaming, blood and violence than is truly frightening. If there's one positive I'm seeing, it's that this trailer looks like it isn't a remake of the original at all and is just another sequel. Though, the reality remains to be seen.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
