A documentary about an art critic who married artistic impersonator Cindy Sherman only to find himself constantly compared to her and living as a secondary citizen in her life and career.
The symbolism is so glaringly obvious, a husband caught in his enigmatic wife's shadow, that it would almot be too irritating if it weren't so true.
Cindy Sherman herself is a bit of a mystery than many would love to see unravelled and while I'm not sure this documentary will do that, the key interest in it lies in finding more about Sherman than learning anything important about her husband.
I could see the Academy recognizing the film. I could also see them ignoring it altogether. A lot will depend on the notices from critics it receives.
I have not seen this film.
