A female convict discovers while she's in prison that she's pregnant, gives birth there and begins raising her child there alongside several other prison mothers.
Gritty and effective when compared with the film's trailer, this poster seems all too appropriate, yet somewhat distant and unappealing. It might bring in a few people, but it's more likely to turn away audiences even with the Festival du Cannes notice.
As a concept, there's something socially intriguing here. However, the trailer is long-winded, features several lengthy, uninvolved scenes with nothing but a relatively unexciting song, and never gives the audience someone with whom they can connect as the mother doesn't really seem to have much emotive capabilities, at least within the trailer.
Not the kind of film that countries submit for Oscar consideration.
I have not seen this film.
