The film follows the story of the lives and loves of famed artist Salvador Dali, filmmaker Louis Buñel and writer Federico García Lorca.
Only two of the three subjects of the film appear on the poster, but that doesn't keep the poster from being interesting. Although the images are clearly from different segments of the film, they are positioned perfectly to put the two lovers on eye level with each other. It's the lone saving grace of the poster as it shows the film's makers are not as worried about controversy as they could be.
Part of me wants to like the film, if only because Robert Pattinson is trying to stretch himself and isn't at all concerned about his reputation as part of the Twilight frachise. Those kind of bold risks tend to lead towards big careers as serious actors. However, the film seems woefully pushy and slick as if they are trying to appeal more to a young audience than artistic audience. That could pandering could result in the film's ultimate failure.
If it's exceptionally good and wins over critics, it could be a contender, mostly in the tech categories. If it's a flop, it may very well end up forgotten and be only a minor contender for Art Direction and Costume Design.
I have not seen this film.
