Preview: Lymelife (2009)

Synopsis:

A teenager with parents who are constantly fighting seeks solace with a girl at school who isn't even sure she likes him.

Review:

The silhouette's in the house window had a measure of individuality the poster as not many have used that concept since Clue back in the mid-'80s. The rest of the poster is rather bland and uneventful with the shade of blue more distracting than affecting.

• Trailer: B+

Review:

With the kind of acting power in the film, you would expect it to be rather good and the preview does suggest that. The main problem is that it seems very familiar as if we've seen this story told many times over, but at least it's done well enough to be interesting.

Oscar Prospects:

It's very possible that critics with latch onto this film and push it towards year-end accolades, which could be a boon for the film's stars, who all seem to be giving effortless performances.
