A young actor is selected to appear in a play directed by Orson Welles and ends up finding love while also dealing with frustration.
Claire Danes' expression alone is distracting. Her joy is a bit too counterintuitive to the rest of the design. The colors are strong, though the execution weak.
If it weren't for Zac Efron and a few of the scenes with Claire Danes, the film looks like it might actually be good. Christian McKay is worth paying attention to, but the film isn't solely about him, which might be a bit of a distraction.
Unless critics fall all over themselves, producers may want to stick with an attempt to get Christian McKay an Oscar nomination for a terrific Orson Welles impression.
I have not seen this film.
