A documentary collected from home movies and audio tape recordings made by a couple suffering from severe suburbian malaise.
A perfectly fitting selection of an old photo of the family (and like the family), distorted, cracked and aged with a faint reel-to-reel at the top of the poster.
The entire premise is fascinating. To think that the types of events often depicted in the films of Douglas Sirk and the modern films Far From Heaven and Revolutionary Road. could have been based so succinctly on real situations, it's a bit terrifying and intriguing at the same time.
This could be this year's Capturing the Friedmans-type documentary that takes critics groups by storm while being avoided by the Academy. But maybe they've learned their lesson...
I have not seen this film.
