Preview: The Mysteries of Pittsburgh (2009)

Synopsis:

Graduating college leads the son of a gangster to seek love, life and sexuality while trying to understand who he is and who he wants to be.

Review:

White as a background color is not among my favorite choices, but it balances nicely the color of the four panels on the poster, each depicting one of the actors of the film (excluding Nick Nolte for some reason). It's not the most evocative poster, but it's pleasant enough to look at.

• Trailer: B+

Review:

Peter Sarsgaard seems to be back in the niche that suits him best and the film looks like a very interesting look at true sexual exploration, not a simple declaration made to move the story along. That it seems to be rather leisurely in pace may aid the film in bringing the more complex aspects of finding love in a modern world to fruition.

Oscar Prospects:

This isn't a prestige pic, so it's not likely to bring much attention.
