Preview: New in Town (2009)

Synopsis:

Renee Zellweger is a business executive who is shipped off to a tiny Minnesota town where a culture clash occurs.

Review:

Thematically, it fits with the film quite well. Visually, it's not terribly interesting or evocative, though I'm sure Zellweger's fans will turn out in droves with her displaying those legs.

• Trailer: B+

Review:

Renee Zellweger returns to the medium that made her famous. With the success of Bridget Jones' Diary, she went from girlfriend in Jerry Maguire to sensation. This looks like it is in similar style to Diary and is quite amusing for a movie releasing so early in the year.

Oscar Prospects:

Renee Zellweger hasn't gotten a comedy nod since her Oscar and hasn't really gotten one since her first nomination for Bridget Jones' Diary. This looks like it is releasing too early to be of any consequence to next year's Oscar race.
