Preview: The Pink Panther 2 (2009)

Synopsis:

A sequel to Steve Martin's first Pink Panther remake, which follows the famed Inspector Cluseau as he once again tries to track down the infamous diamond.

Review:

Not even remotely clever. Not even remotely interesting. Not even remotely good. Well, there is the pink.
A slight improvement over the first poster, but still devoid of comic merit and sufficing only to show Steve Martin on the poster alongside the celebrated rosey feline.

• Trailer: B-; B-

Review:

There are a few smile-inducing moments in the trailer, but the original film had a few of those, too, but that didn't make it a great film. Matter of fact, the rather generic title Pink Panther 2 shows additional disrespect to the great tradition of old Pink Panther titles...but then again, so does Steve Martin as Cluseau.

They add so little to this trailer, slightly shorter than the original teaser, that they are almost indistinguishable. It still looks like the same tired formula put to use in the first film, but I still get cracked up when the nun faints. Hopefully it isn't the only funny part of the film.

Oscar Prospects:

None. Just like the first film.
