Preview: Red Cliff (2009)

Review:

I like the colors, but the off-kilter design isn't very intriguing and the title doesn't seem to go with its surroundings.

Review:

John Woo is foremost an action director, but the scenes featured in the trailer are gorgeously shot and promise this to be an entertaining film even if it isn't a great one.

Oscar Prospects:

Chinese martial arts/action flicks haven't been doing well in recent years with the Academy. Art Direction and Costume Design are a long shot and unless this is submitted by China to the Oscars, it won't be a Foreign Language Film contender.
